Engaging with your photographer

When you are planning your wedding photography a really important consideration could be to have an engagement or couple shoot. This type of shoot is such a good way to get to know your photographer (and let’s face it, you spend a LOT of time with your photographer on your wedding day so it really helps if you have a good connection with them) as well as starting to feel more comfortable having your picture taken. So many people feel a bit awkward when they have their photograph taken (especially Bridegrooms!). We have all felt it… you don’t know how to stand, or what to do with your arms… and trying to smile normally seems like mission impossible! Having a couple shoot before your wedding can help all of that. They are fun and relaxed, and usually come with lots of good tips about how to pose for your wedding photography, to really get the best out of your pictures. Several of my wedding collections include couple’s shoots, some even with framed prints or signature boards for guests to sign on the day, and I always chat to my clients and offer a little posing advice in my wedding consultations. Engagement shoots often also provide a good opportunity to visit the reception venue with the couple, almost like have a little run through of areas to use for the bride and groom portraits. It all helps your day go more smoothly, and you feel more relaxed.

If you are planning a wedding, and would like a no obligation chat about your plans and your wedding photography, then I would love to hear from you so please get in touch.
If you have just got engaged then why not celebrate with a photography session to mark the occasion. You don’t have to have a wedding date planned already.

These pictures were taken at a recent couple shoot for Amy and Paul. We visited The Petwood Hotel prior to their wedding (which was held at this fabulous venue) and wandered around the gorgeous gardens.
